In small gardens, particularly in towns and cities, space and surrounding gardens can pose challenges that mean a full raised playhouse with climbing frame apparatus is not a realistic proposition. A tall structure can dominate and impose in a small garden, and a raised deck can provide a vantage point to overlook neighbours. Therefore we always advise customers to consider the impact climbing frames or playhouses may have on the gardens and people around.
When the customer in this case wanted a playhouse with a slide we presented a number of options, however the idea of one of charming designer playhouses, with an upstairs and a veranda it was clear that this idea was going to be a winner.
With a footprint of 1.8m x 1.8m there is plenty of space inside, and with a total height just below 2.5m there’s room for a tall adult to stand up in. On the left half of the house inside there’s an upper level, accessed by a ladder, that has double opening doors onto a small area for the slide.
This is one of our children’s designer playhouses that is lined inside and out and also painted inside and out in colours of the customers own choosing. The pictures of the inside of the playhouse clearly show how the final finish is just like the smooth plastered walls of a real house.
The door is inset not only creating a sheltered outside area but also really adding to the character inside.
We really working with cedar shingles on our playhouses. This roofing material is commonly used in North America and Canada and is renowned for is durability and insulative properties. It also looks great, golden red when first put on fading to a silvery grey after a few months.
Two story London Playhouse with Slide
This playhouse was built in a small garden in South London. It has an upper level, which also has access through double doors to the slide.
