The things on the ‘must have’ list were a playhouse or cottage, a lookout tower as well as a really long slide. She also wanted that ‘treeetops lost world, rope bridgey kind of thing’. We had ideas involving spiral slides and different layouts.

What was also in the brief was a garden swing, which at this time was part of the structure. Later, we decided to make it a separate entity in a different part of the garden.

It does seem the rustic, yet high quality finish of our children’s cottage wooden playhouses really does appeal to all. In this case Anna wanted as much of a wooden look as possible throughout. Although the playhouse is still lined and painted inside.

I know it’s early this year but Easter definitely is a spring event, and it feels like the depths of winter at the moment.
Nevertheless the South West, and Devon in particularly is the best place for a holiday in England – I’m sure I recall a saying from a few years ago now ‘the summer comes soonest in the South West’.

All the tourist businesses are working overtime just now getting everything, including their playground equipment is, ‘just so’ for the Easter break, and at Playways we’re pulling all the stops out to make sure they have the best playground equipment.

This week we’ve been working at Parker’s Farm Cottages and Caravans on the edge of Dartmoor. Perfectly placed for the South Hams, Torquay, historic Exeter and of course Dartmoor, this lovely holiday setting now boasts a fantastic new playground as well.

We took these photos yesterday before the surfacing arrived, but they definitely show how robust and solid Playways playhouses and climbing frames are.

This (warts and all) photo shows some really useful things.
We don’t skimp on timber. There are some big bits wood here. And we don’t skimp on fun either. This climbing frame has a slide, rock wall, ramp and rope, monkey bars, firemans’s pole steps and a clatter bridge as well. This site looks muddy now, but to be fair that’s how we found it, and the safety surfacing will ensure it’s looking pristine next week.

Playways Otter Cottage was one of the first playhouse playcentres we built, and has been universally popular ever since then. Its easy to see why. This playhouse playcentre is built to a very high specification, and is designed to look stunning in any garden.

The playhouse is lined throughout inside. This has several benefits. Lining the house means that there is an insulating air gap in the walls and ceiling which gives the house a really cosy feeling inside. Lining the walls also provides a completely flat surface which, when painted makes the walls look and feel just like the plastered walls of a real house.

Otter Cottage has our unique cedar shingle roof, with the stunning gable over the door. The space created inside by this feature really makes the house feel spacious and airy.

As with all our playhouse playcentres we are happy to paint this Otter Cottage wooden playhouse in your choice of colours.

The outside area of this raised playhouse is 2.4m x 2.4m, and has a slide, climbing wall, fireman’s pole and steps. The activities can be added to by adding monkey bars, swings and other items.

A very popular addition to this raised playhouse is the lower deck. This creates a useful play space off the ground, and can be used for storing those outdoor toys when not in use.
